Derek Hamilton7th & 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher
Our 7th and 8th grade Social Studies teacher Derek Hamilton is an amazing educator who has dedicated more than 20 years of service to TUSD, including the past 13 years at Robins K–8. Students look forward to being in his classroom because of his positive energy, engaging lessons, and great sense of humor. No matter the challenge, he has a unique ability to bring positivity to any situation, often reminding us all with his favorite saying, “Good times, good times.”
His colleagues value him as a trusted source of guidance and support, and his willingness to help extends beyond the classroom—even if that means using his height to hang posters around campus! His commitment to students, staff, and our school community makes him a truly special member of the Robins K–8 family.
Christine Castro and Jose ArenasCampus Monitors
Our campus monitors are the unsung heroes who help keep Robins K–8 safe and welcoming every day. Christine has been dedicated to TUSD since 1996 and has served as a campus monitor at Robins K–8 since the 2012–13 school year. Jose joined our Robins K–8 family as a campus monitor in 2024 and has quickly become an important part of our team. Together, they provide a reassuring presence for students, staff, and families, ensuring that our campus remains a safe place to learn and grow.
Our monitors build strong relationships with students, serve as a valuable resource for families, and are often the first friendly faces seen each day. Their dedication is unmatched—they spend more time outdoors than almost anyone else on campus, working tirelessly in all conditions to support our school community. Parents know they can depend on them to help keep their children safe, and we are incredibly grateful for their commitment, reliability, and care. They truly help make Robins K–8 a special place.
