  1. General School Safety & Health Protocols:
    1. We are committed to keeping our students and staff safe and maintaining healthy school environment. We ask that parents, guardians, and family members remain in their vehicles during drop off and pick up, or park your vehicle and escort your child to the designated gates.  We are asking that you remain on the outside of our fencing to ensure that we keep the number of people on campus limited.
    2.  You are welcome to volunteer in the school and classroom.  We ask that you            pre-arrange this with the teacher or school.  Volunteers will be able to begin as early as August 22nd, as this will allow the teachers and the school time to settle into our routines and connect with our students. There are specific requirements for authorization to volunteer, please contact the front office for the specifics.
    3. Masks are not required depending on the spread of the virus.  This will be dictated by the district in collaboration with Pima County Health.
    4. We will continue to have masks available for students if requested. All classrooms and common areas will have access to hand sanitizer.  We will also work to create social distancing where and when possible. We ask that you send a reusable or a disposable water bottle with your child daily, especially on extremely hot days.
    5. We will not permit parents, families, or guardians to wait for their child(ren) in the hallways, foyers or front office for safety reasons.  The office area will be for those needing to pick up their child(ren) earlier than dismissal for appointments.  If you need to pick up your child early, we ask that you give us a call so that we can have your child ready for you to pick up at the front office.

It is very important that your children are on time each day.  Tardiness is not acceptable and has a negative impact on their learning.  The bell for students to line up, rings at 7:40 a.m.  Teachers begin to walk students in at 7:43 a.m.  Start of school bell rings at 7:45 a.m. and a tardy bell at 7:47 a.m. Students are considered tardy after the 7:47 a.m. bell daily.  All tardy students must sign in at the front office and receive a tardy admit slip to class.  Please see enclosed information from TUSD on how attendance and office procedures are followed for tardiness and absences as required by A.R.S. (Arizona Revised Statutes).   Parents will need to accompany their child into the building to sign them in after 7:47 a.m. for security purposes.  If your child will be absent please call Ms. Kayla Acosta, the attendance technician @ 908-4313 or Ms. Kristy Melendez, the office manager @ 908-4300 or email us at [email protected] or [email protected].

Safety is always a priority at Robins K-8.  Please remember that all doors to the school including the front office and perimeter gates will be locked during the school day.  Please remember to use the appropriate drop off and pick up areas located at the east and west parking lots.  There are two lanes of traffic. The inner lane is for pick up/drop off and the outer lane is for exiting the area.  Please remind students to use the marked crosswalk areas.

We also ask that you follow all designated parking, and no parking area signs.  Our parking signs require that you stay in your vehicle during drop off/ pick up for safety of the students and effective traffic flow.  At dismissal all students will be escorted to the designated pick-up area (west parking lot for 1st-5th, kinder @ purple gate, 6th-8th at middle school gate).  Please adhere to the posted HANDICAP parking signs or marked spaces, as they are not open spots for drop off or parking without appropriate permits on your vehicle.

All of us here at Robins K-8 are committed to providing the best education for your students. We need your involvement, ideas, and support.  Feel free to call me at 908-4300 or email me at [email protected].  You can stay informed about our school and upcoming events by visiting our website at https://robinsk8.tusd1.org/.

Sincerely

Mrs Chandra Thomas
